Teacher of the Year

The committee is defined by the Constitution as having : "The responsibility of this committee is to solicit the financial support to recognize the top teacher from each School District that is participating in GLOBE (as full members). .. The Committee will solicit funding for the awards, participate in the selection process by obtaining information and nominations from the participating School Districts, attend presentation ceremonies at the various districts and will notify the winners and arrange the presentations to be made during the annual Scholars Ceremony.

This year 22 teachers were recognized with stipends of $200 each using money donated by Brookshire's Foods. We recognized teachers from 13 school districts (22 from member districts and 2 from affiliate districts) . These teachers were presented certificates at the Honors Ceremony and also by their school districts during a regular school board meeting. They were also recognized with radio public service announcements and in the lead story on the special section on the Globe Scholars. During those recognition opportunities, it was noted that the Globe Scholars were the recipients of the dedication of these educators. This year's plans include obtaining additional funds in order to provide a luncheon for these teachers.
